Material List

The material list tool auto-generates a cut list and hardware bill of materials from your gate design. Edit quantities, add custom items, and export for purchasing or fabrication.

Opening the Material List

From a Saved Design

Open a saved design from your dashboard, then click Material List to generate the list from the current gate configuration.

What's Generated

The material list is organized into sections based on your gate configuration:

Cut Items

Steel pieces that need to be cut to length:

Frame members (top, bottom, left, right) with lengths
Pickets with quantity and cut length
Rails with lengths
Posts with cut lengths
Uprights with lengths
Diagonal braces with lengths
Arch tube (if applicable) with radius

Hardware

Components and hardware needed for assembly:

Hinges (quantity and size)
Post caps (style and quantity)
Spear points / finials (style and quantity)
Lock hardware (maglock or lockbox)
Mounting plates
Baseplates
Wheel boxes (for slide gates)
Track (for slide gates)

Summary

A high-level summary of total material quantities.

Editing the List

The material list is fully editable:

Click any cell to edit quantities, descriptions, or dimensions
Add rows — add custom items not automatically detected (e.g., paint, welding rod, concrete)
Remove rows — delete items you don't need

Tube Type

Toggle between Square and Round tube using the toggle in the toolbar. This updates all material labels (e.g., "2" sq tube" becomes "2" round tube") and recomputes the cut list accordingly.

Saving & Printing

Save — saves your edits immediately (changes also auto-save after a short delay)
Print — open the browser print dialog for a formatted printout
Estimate — jump to the estimate page to price out materials and labor
